Idiocy

I see Ahmadinnerjacket has been invited to speak at Columbia University (don't send your kids there) and Mayor Bloomberg is escorting him to a visit at Ground Zero? so he can say a prayer for his "martyrs"(19), I presume. I have one question:

HAVE WE LOST OUR MINDS?

THATISALL.

Babble

Spending this weekend thinking about work; trying to stop. You can zone out now, if you want, here goes:

We are doing a job in another state. All our ducks were in a row months ago as far as unions and state & local income taxes and workers comp. But a sub con didn't fulfill his requirements for hiring locally and also, Went On Vacation (!) and is unreachable (!). So we are hiring ironworkers ourselves, locally, to fulfill HIS requirements, to continue this job. This means signing up with another state's wc and withholding etc, On The Fly. rowr along with setting up a new union. I got the wc coverage done yesterday.

I spent the last half of last week either on the phone, or online, printing applications and filling out online forms, faxing employment applications, overnighting forms, etc. etc. during which time the printer starts breaking, more than it has been. This will get me a new printer, but I really don't have time right now to a) go get it, and b) set it up. Have to get payroll done by Wednesday latest.

there, that's out. I will now try to forget about it until Monday. This is using up my valuable free time.

Well

I edited the gallery pics, with names as far as I can, and there you go. Turns out all the little
pop ups were coming up BEHIND the window, before, so I thought I couldn't do anything. But that's just me. doesn't take much to throw me off.

Funny when Mary was telling the waitress that we are all cousins AND half sisters and brothers. That really sounded bad, didn't it? She got it wrong. We are cousins and STEP whatever. since my mother married her sister's husband, after her sister died, that made us stepbrother/sister with our cousins. I guess. Probably a biblical injunction against it; or maybe a biblical mandate, for all I know. anyhow it gets much worse after that; I can't think about it or I'll get a headache. This is why we can never make a family tree it's just too complicated.

And too, Mary is the matriarch - not me. Thank God! It's not a job I think I could handle with any dignity.

I hear Sally Fields did some cussing at the Emmy awards, trying to commend mothers, I think, but I'm confused about it. Mothers of soldiers, I think. Well, thanks Sally! That makes it all alright then... wait... and if women were in charge there would be no blankety blank wars, either? Maybe not, but might be some back stabbing and hair pulling....not that there's anything wrong with that.

Men have always gone to war and women always stay home and weep. (in my case, my women go off to war, so now I'm Really Confused). "so it is, and so it will be, for so it has been, time out of mind". But seems to me it was a bunch of men that knocked down our towers and those towers contained men AND women. And mothers. And there were children in those planes.

Weep, Women! or fight - I choose fight; any way I can, and however it gets done.

No surrender.

Shiloh Came Home

...and has made herself at home. In the exact middle.
OK, this is turning into some kind of pet blog. hmmm not what I had in mind.

The Cousins' Lunch pictures are at the gallery in an album called "Untitled", because it does not want me to rename it for some reason. or edit the pic names either, but whatever. Maybe later. We know I have tech issues, don't we?
here
Hopefully anyone who goes there knows who yall are, what with no titles. Oh and I ended up with some duplicates in there too but now I can't even log in so they will have to stay for now.

Julie is probably on her way now to pick up Alex and is bringing pizza.

What a short weekend!

Mercy's Shirt

Her stitches could not get taken out because her wound is inflamed. (I told them so, so there.) Supposedly from a reaction to the sutures, but they also think she's been licking. We haven't seen her doing any licking; it must be happening at night. So we give her antibiotics now and have to put a tshirt on her, backwards, to sleep. With her tail out the head hole and her legs in the arm holes, gathered up in a bunch and pinned. We did this tonight, as far as we could figure it out from the vague instructions I was given. and after an hour long search for a safety pin, but we eventually got her shirted.

There's not a chance this will stay on not a chance. and she will most likely chew free the safety pin and swallow it, causing more grief.

I'm going to go take it back off, right now, before it's too late.

Goodness has a scratch under his eye - I just found out tonight. It's swelled up. Bob says, oh yeah - he's had it 3 or 4 days. Way to tell me, Bob.

Mercy broke her rope and jumped the (gated) deck today; met Bob in the driveway when he got home. (this is how she gets inflamed I bet - this is like pole vaulting after a hysterectomy) oh, and killed the rest of the plants on the (now) dirt covered deck, while she was at it. Oh, and it rained after that so the dirt is now mud. The only rope I have left is a big heavy chain that she drags clanking across the muddy deck, it scares her. Scares me too.

We get Alex at 10:30 tomorrow for the weekend and when Julie comes to pick him up Sunday she's leaving Shiloh here for 3 days. (!)

Mary & Eddie are in town and the cousins are supposed to meet for lunch tomorrow; heh. hahahahahaha(maniacal laughter) Bob says we must go or everyone might come over here. (!!)

The carpet is ordered and I must move the fish tank. heh. buhahahahahaha

How on earth will I get the cat to the vet and the dog to the vet and the fish to the dining room and keep Mercy shirted, while babysitting and dogsitting and going to lunch.

this is way too complicated

Technology

I never quite do get my stuff figured out but what happens is usually, I gradually forget about it. I figure this is the survival instinct kicking in, otherwise I would go freaking NUTS. so I have all this gear I halfway know how to use and it seems to be working out ok, that way. Until the next thing comes along with its only purpose being to drive me insane.

But I still don't have a hammer and chisel so I'll keep chugging along. wearing a helmet, in case it all blows up (don't even tell me it couldn't happen!) I know these things.

Get This Book.

(click on pic to read the cover)
Read it. I read it in two nights; I laughed so hard, and then I cried too. I've had dogs like this. (aren't all dogs like this?) In any case you'll like it even if you don't have a dog.

Not Lying About Her Ears

Aren't they purty.

She finally held still long enough to get a pic.
On the other hand this is not the real Mercy. We picked her up at the vet this morning, post spaying, and she has not moved much since we got her home. She has been lying on her favorite throw rug; the one she usually tears around the house with it in her mouth as if it were a dead animal. Lying there without moving much for TWO HOURS. You would think I would like this peace and quiet for a change, wouldn't you? you would think

The vet said she had some vomiting in reaction to the anesthesia this morning and to feed her bland food. Upon inquiry, bland food in vet speak is cooked white chicken, rice, oatmeal...
they brought her out to our car where she showed some enthusiasm to see us: she peed on my purse that had fallen on the driveway in the excitement. and arriving home, peed all over again to see Einstein. So we know the pee function still works. that's good

and they told us what a sweet dog she is. we knew that; just has a lot of energy well, usually.

I have to go now and boil a chicken
